New Mowasat Hospital (NMH) has reached another important milestone in healthcare excellence by successfully securing Diamond-level Accreditation from Accreditation Canada. The recognition marks the hospital’s fourth Diamond-level accreditation and its sixth renewal cycle, reflecting a long-standing commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and clinical quality.

This year’s achievement carries additional significance as the accreditation has been extended to New Mowasat Mangaf Clinics (NMC) for the first time. The Mangaf clinics have become the first satellite ambulatory clinics in Kuwait to receive Diamond-level accreditation, setting an important benchmark for outpatient healthcare facilities across the country.

The accreditation highlights the continued efforts of New Mowasat Hospital and its affiliated clinics to maintain internationally recognized healthcare practices. It also reflects the dedication of medical professionals, nurses, administrative teams, and support staff who contribute to maintaining quality standards throughout the organization.

Mr. Abdullah Al Wazzan, Chief Executive Officer, expressed appreciation for the recognition and credited the achievement to the commitment and teamwork demonstrated by employees across the organization. According to Dr. Alexander Varghese, Hospital Director, the Diamond-level accreditation demonstrates the organization’s continued alignment with internationally recognized healthcare standards. The assessment process included a detailed on-site survey carried out in February 2024 by a team of international assessors from Canada.

During the survey, both New Mowasat Hospital and New Mowasat Mangaf Clinics were evaluated against a broad range of healthcare standards. The assessment covered key areas such as patient safety, people-centered care, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, and facility safety. The comprehensive evaluation examined healthcare processes and practices across different areas of service delivery.

Ms. Shaheena Sheikh, Director of Quality & Clinical Excellence, noted that quality healthcare and positive clinical outcomes remain central to the organization’s approach to patient care. She highlighted the role of established healthcare processes in supporting patient safety and maintaining consistency throughout different stages of care.

A notable aspect of the latest accreditation is the overall 100 percent score achieved across all required standards. The result demonstrates the level of attention given to compliance, quality management, clinical processes, and patient safety within the organization.

New Mowasat Hospital has maintained dual accreditation standards since 2008, making the latest recognition another important chapter in its continuing quality journey. The inclusion of the Mangaf Clinics further expands this commitment beyond the hospital setting and into ambulatory healthcare services.
